Fire & Emergency committee meeting held

Chandigarh,09 july:-- A meeting of Fire & Emergency services committee of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held today under the chairmanship of Mr. M.P. Kohli. Other members who were present during the meeting were Sat Parkash Aggarwal, Pardeep Chhabra, Surinder Bahga, H.C. Kalyan, Arun Sood, Babu Lal, Sunil Bhatia, Additional Commissioner, other concerned officers and staff members.

During the meeting it was discussed at large that the Fire & Emergency Services wing of MC would be strengthened by providing more manpower, latest infrastructure keeping in view the present scenario of local markets and population of the city. The committee members suggested that technical specifications of 60 meter high Hydraulic Turn Table ladder be tabled in the next meeting of committee so that final proposal be sent to the general house for approval to include this equipment in fire fighting system in Chandigarh. The members were of the view to purchase water pumps to drain out water accumulated in low line residential areas during heavy rains. The committee members suggested that refresher courses be arranged for every fireman. The members said that the committee will visit all the fire stations alongwith executive engineers of roads, public health and electricity divisions of MC so that any kind of requirements be solved on the spot.
