Aadhaar Enabled Direct Benefit Transfer

Chandigarh, 02nd JULY:-- Chandigarh Administration today rolled out the next phase of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme with the transfer of about Rs.2.90 crores to 14478 beneficiaries under various central and state schemes.  These schemes include Social Welfare pensions, Indira Gandhi Matritava Sahyog Yojana, Post-matric scholarship for SC students and Pre-matric scholarship for SC students.   

 

Chandigarh is already the leading district in implementing the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme and is in fact the first among the pilot districts to launch all applicable central schemes under DBT. The number of transactions reported for Chandigarh under DBT is also highest among pilot districts till date. More than Rs. 5.90 Crores have been paid to more than 30000 beneficiaries of various schemes identified under DBT program.

Chandigarh Administration has already notified Aadhaar as valid Proof of Address and Proof of Identity for various welfare schemes being run by departments, boards, corporations, public undertakings and agencies under the aegis of the Chandigarh Administration. 

Chandigarh Administration has also facilitated the Aadhaar enrolment at its Sampark centres. In addition to enrolment facility of Aadhaar, status checking & e-Aadhaar printing through these Sampark Centres across city has also been provided to the residents. The e-Aadhaar letter has got the same validity as that of normal Aadhaar letter.

As of now, UID enrolment in Chandigarh has crossed the 95 per cent mark. More than 10.02 lakh residents have been enrolled out of which 8.41 lakh residents have been given Aadhaar numbers.
