UT Administration will also provide basic facilities to the pilgrims :A team along with Ambulance has been set up at Bus Stand and Railway Station to take care of passenger coming from Uttrakhand

Chandigarh 22^nd June:--  With the aim of providing basic facilities to the pilgrims who are reaching Chandigarh after braving the rain havoc in Uttarakhand. A meeting was held by Shri K.K.Sharma, Adviser to the Administrator today with all the senior officers comprising Shri Anil Kumar, Home Secretary, Shri V.K.Singh, Finance Secretary, Shri M.Shayin, Deputy Commissioner, IGP and DSW to discuss about how UT Administration can participate in the relief operations. After discussions it was decided to take the following actions:-

1.                A team along with Ambulance has been set up at Bus Stand and Railway Station to take care of any passenger coming from Uttrakhand or Himachal Pradesh who require any assistance such as dropping to their home or any medical assistance which will be provided by this team on priority with the help of Local Government Hospitals.

2.                UT Administration has appealed to all it officers, employees and residents to contribute one day's salary towards relief fund set up for Uttrakhand Calamity.

3.                UT Administration has established contact with Uttrakhand Government, Army and Air Force authorities who are actively involved in relief operations directly and assured of any help in this matter.  The hospitals in Chandigarh are being geared up to receive any patients and we will take care of treatment of any such passenger coming.

4.                On the Chandigarh Administration website and in Police Control Room (Telephone No. 100), a facility is being created, where the citizens of Chandigarh can upload the information or give it through telephone regarding their missing relatives/friends stranded both in Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand.  UT Administration will take up with the agencies carrying out relief operations in the region to find out their whereabouts.

5.                A team of officers is being sent to Rishikesh to find out whereabouts of pilgrim from Chandigarh and provide them all necessary assistance.

6.               After assessing the requirement of relief material, further action will be taken to collect and transport help to the region.
