Mr. Mehul Shah, Director, HMFI, said "According to IBEF statistics, new orders for manufacturing firms in India rose by around 29% of high level new work. Subcontractors and industrial suppliers now contribute more and more to the production process, and they also constitute by far the most important link in the value-adding chain. The HSBC India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) - a measure of factory production - stood at 54.2, up from 53.2 in the previous month, indicating an improvement in the overall health of the Indian manufacturing sector."
