Chandigarh, June 18: New citizen-friendly website of Chandigarh Police and Crime & Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) Project of Police Station Manimajra were inaugurated at police headquarters on Monday.Along with the inauguration of the police station, CCTNS has been launched at all the 11 police stations. Chandigarh Police has become the first police organization in the country with 100 per cent implementation of the project at police station level, city police said.
CCTNS aims nationwide networking infrastructure for evolution of IT-enabled-state-of-the-art tracking system around 'Investigation of Crimes and Detection of Criminals'.
It will not only automate police functions at police station but also create facilities and mechanism to provide public services like registration of online complaints, ascertaining the status of the case registered at the police station, verification of persons etc. KK Sharma, Advisor to Administrator launched the CCTNS project.
UT police also launched a new citizen-friendly website www.chandigarhpolice.gov.in. While creating this website, the needs and requirements of the public at large were specifically kept in mind.
Several key services are now readily available on the Chandigarh Police website. This includes compliant registration-procedures and avenues, all police helpline numbers for contacting the police in case of any problem or emergency, FIR copy downloaded - FIRs online, traffic police related services like pre-paid auto services, driving history record, driving license test, stolen/recovered vehicle status, public window complaint status, passport application status etc.
Emigration/immigration companies/agents lists, foreigners registration rules, servant/tenant/PG verification forms, mobile police station facility roster, late night towing facility for stalled vehicles, late night dropping of ladies who are unable to find a safe transport medium to their homes, services under RTI Act, safety steps to be taken by the citizens, police employee portal and various relevant laws, have also been listed in the website.
All details about proclaimed offenders, missing persons, un-identified dead bodies, look out notices, most wanted criminals as well as crime and traffic accident statistics are readily available on the website for all to see, the police added.....
