Former Mayors Launch Blistering Attack against Manish Tewari and Expose His False Propaganda about Development

A number of former Mayors of Chandigarh today launched a frontal attack on Congress candidate Manish Tewari. The Mayors present during the media conference included first Mayor Kamla Sharma,  K. K. Adiwal, Asha Jaswal, Sarvjit Kaur, Manoj Sonkar, Rajesh Kalia and Poonam Sharma. Senior BJP leader Satinder Singh was also present.   

These former Mayors exposed the lies perpetuated by him with regards to the development works undertaken during the last 10 years. Tewari is continuously spreading misinformation that no development has happened in the years when BJP's Kirron Kher was MP from here. On behalf of former Mayors, Subhash Chawla speaking eloquently demolished the lies of Manish Tewari. "Manish Tewari believes that if a lie is uttered 1000 times, it becomes a truth." Chawla told the members of the media. "We have come here to expose this man, who himself has done nothing for his former constituencies. In fact he was the one who got himself hospitalized in order to evade fighting election from Ludhiana in 2014," Subhash Chawla revealed.
 
He told media persons that in the last 10 years, Chandigarh has seen all round progress and  the quality of life of each and every citizen has improved.

Another former Mayor Ravi Kant Sharma also spoke about the various developmental works undertaken in the city in the last 10 years. He primarily stressed upon the COVID days when the entire city was facing one of the most challenging times. "All our councillors and party workers remained outdoors in those horrible days and served the people. We provided 70000 food packets everyday to the needy in those days as PM Modi had instructed that don't  let anyone  remain hungry," Ravi Kant Sharma said, "He said that development had never stopped in the last 10 years and every Mayor had contributed for this in the last 10 years." He enlisted numerous works and prominent among those were regarding sanctioning Rs. 102 crores for villages, segregation of garbage, construction of underpass at Manimajra and many more.
 
Subhash Chawla also elaborated in detail about the development works. 

Some major works that were highlighted  were:

1. Under the smart city project CCTV cameras have been installed in the entire city. This has not only helped in curbing crime but also disciplined the traffic in the city.

2. All street lights have been replaced by LED lights. This has given better illumination and also reduced the monthly power bill from one crore to 50 lakhs. A number of new schools have been opened and several upgraded.

3. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had visited the city on several occasions and inaugurated a number of development projects including 1200 police flats and new building of UT Secretariat.

4. A new hospital came up in Sector 48 and a well equipped new trauma centre started working. New OPD at Government Multi Speciality Hospital Sector 16 started functioning.

5. Number of new community centres were renovated and Ram Darbar got a new one.

6. New Mini Sports Complexes came into being and a number of new badminton halls too started functioning.

7. Heart of the city, sector 17 got a complete new look. An urban park was developed here and high mast lights were installed. A fountain having a unique design became an added attraction her for visitors.

8. A beautiful underpass connecting sector 17 with sector 16 too was developed in the last 10 years. This underpass doubles as an art gallery and as a stage for impromptu performances.

9. A heritage centre of the Indian Airforce also came up in Sector 18.

10. Construction of a new building for the DC office has been approved.

11. Court verdict has paved the way for the constitution of flyover at Tribune chowk and work will start soon.

12. Chandigarh was able to get 29 MGD water from Punjab. An MOU in this regard had been signed and with this water problem will not be there in the foreseeable future.

13. Round the clock water supply pilot project at Manimajra is underway and soon the project will be implemented in the entire city.
Subhash Chawla said that most of these works have been undertaken through various central government schemes and an MP plays a very important role in bringing these projects. 

The former mayors challenged Manish Tewari to issue a similar kind of list for works he had done in Ludhiana and Anandpur Sahib.
