Chandigarh March 9, 2021:- Governor of Punjab & Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh V.P.Singh Badnore has laid the foundation stone of new Emergency & Trauma Block, GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh in the presence of Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, Principal Secretary Health, Chief Architect, Chief Enigneer-cum-Special Secy. (Engg.) and Director Principal GMCH.
The Medical College was established in the year 1991, the college campus have area of 36 Acres. With the passage of time, different blocks were added in the College as per requirement. GMCH is one of the major Medical institute of Northern India, which is catering to not only the residents of tri-city but also residents of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand & J&K. This new Emergency and trauma block is the need of an hour and would prove highly beneficial to the general public at large.
This building having a plinth area more than 1,50,000 Sft. consists of total 5 stories with 2 basement and 3 upper stories. This emergency block will add 259 more beds in the hospital having clinical labs, X Ray, C.T. Scan, MRI, Chemist Shop, Snack Shop, ATM, 2 emergency Operation Theate and Minor Operation Theatre, Post Operative Wards, Isolation Ward, parking facilities in twin basement. It has also provision for Central Air-conditioning system, Medical Gases, Fire Fighting, Fire Sensing system etc. The building has parking facilities for 59 Cars and 144 two wheelers.
It will take about 18 months to complete the building with a cost of Rs.30.00 Crore.
