AIBOC Celebrates May Day as “Anti Merger & Anti Privatisation Day”

Chandigarh 01st May:- All India Bank Officers' Confederation, the largest organization of officers in the entire world has decided to celebrate "May Day" as "Anti Merger & Anti Privatisation Day" and propagate save Public Sector campaign. The May Day stands for the unity and dignity of workers. This is the day on which the workers demanded for 8 hours working day and the leaders of the movement paid their lives in the process of expressing their legitimate demand and were fired upon for organizing the workers for this cause on 1st May. History will remember those who gave their lives to make the future of the workers life comfortable.

The State Committee of AIBOC, in its meeting registered strong protest against the recent initiatives of the Government to undermine the importance of the Public Sector Units by reducing the Governments' stake to less than 50% and to hand over these units, the 'Temples of Modern India' on a platter to the private industrialists. Com. Deepak Sharma, State Secretary, impressed upon the need to build a strong campaign against these attempts so that the Public Sector Banks continue to play their pivotal role in the economic development of the country. The sacrifices of so many people can't be forgotten or we'll end up fighting for those same gains all over again. In addition to celebrating the May day as Anti Merger & Anti Privatisation Day, State Committee also decided to organize a "Protest March" on 6th May, 2016 at 5.30 PM in Bank Square, Sector 17 Chandigarh to oppose and expose the anti nation policies of the Government of India. Com. Sharma also urged to all the concerned parties viz. public, representatives of public and media to please look at the root cause of the problem and contribute in bringing necessary changes in the policies and laws to save the Public Sector Banks.
