By 121 News

Chandigarh 28th August:- Gaiety and Traditional fervour marked the Teej Celebrations organised by the Rural Development & Panchayats Department, Punjab. It was a day of fun and frolic, as ladies clad in colourful dresses enjoyed them at the Vikas Bhawan, Mohali. Dressed in colourful and traditional attires, guests including the wives of local Officers as well as the women employees of various government departments had a good time during the two hours long festivities. On this occasion they performed folk dances of Punjab. The women enjoyed the main attraction of the festival- the swings decorated with flowers.  The place reverberated with the beat of drums. The participants presented songs from a series of their choicest collections. Special attraction of the day was "Teej Queen" competition. Kamalpreet Kaur was selected as the Teej Queen and was crowned by folk singer Dolly Gularia. Bibi Surjit Kaur Maluka wife of S. Sikander Singh Maluka was special guest and also enjoyed this Teej Mela.

Sikander Singh Maluka, Rural Development & Panchyats Minister Punjab, sharing his feelings said that earlier people, particularly those in rural areas used to celebrate Teej in a big way. But with the passage of time, the festivities have lost their glory and are confined to a few common places like educational institutions in the urban areas and symbolic celebrations for the entertainment of children in villages.  He added that Teej celebrations nowadays are vapid due to many reasons, mainly the growing individualism in the society, degradation of social values, change in the professional temperament of people and missing of big trees of peepal and neem on the banks of village ponds and the outskirts of the village which used to serve the purposes for putting swings earlier.

He added that during the month of Shravan, a decade or two ago, women used to go in the groups for swinging in gardens after completing their domestic chores and used to sing folk songs. Talking about the decline in the trend of Teej celebration, he attributed it to the rapid growth of entertainment means through electronic media. Earlier, major occasions of entertainment used to be the festivals", he said and added, "Today's young girls hardly remember shravan folk songs and it shows a decline in our folk culture."

The minister said that that our young generation is following the western culture today and forgetting their rich cultural heritage. Central and State Govt. Employees to Take Part in Nationwide Strike on 2nd September

By 121 News

Chandigarh 28th August:- Chandigarh Employees Forum is going to take part in the one day Nationwide Strike call  given by the Central Trade Unions and Federations on 2nd September, 2015.  is against the BETRAYAL OF MODI GOVERNMENT to fulfill its promises. In this one day Nationwide Strike employees of Central Government, Financial Institutions, Public Sector Banks and Insurance (LIC and GIC companies), BSNL, Post Office, AG offices, Chandigarh Admn. Employees, Transport Employees, Electricity Employees, Punjab Govt. Public Sector and Municipal Corporation employees Industrial workers under the banner of Central of Indian Trade Union (CITU) are taking part.

While interacting with media convener of the forum Rajeev Sehgal said that in the 16th Lok Sabha Elections held in 2014, people of this country were hoping for greater relief from the new Governments headed by the NDA.  But all their hopes had been diminished within one year of taking over by the Modi Govt.  Employees were hoping for exemption in the Income tax, but they were betrayed and no exemption was given.  Public Sector Undertakings which are giving profits and filling the  coffers of the Central Govt. are being handed over to the Indian and Foreign Private Houses, all Financial Institutions are being deregulated and being placed at the mercy of Foreign Corporate Houses. Rajeev Sehgal further said that the industry was hoping to increase the production whereas in the last one year the production is declined and their hopes are belied. The Working class which was expecting employment but the rate of employment is decelerated in comparison to growth, share of wages and salary and income have been further reduced. Right to form the Trade Unions and struggle are being scuttled in every possible way and it is being imposed through ordinances and with the wish of the employer up to all possibilities.  Over and above the BJP ruled state Governments, the Central Govt. is dismantling the tripartite system of Labour  laws so that the 12 hours or 13 hours job is ensured and no double remuneration for extra work is to be given to the working class and the same is being denied to workers. They are being  denied minimum  15000 wages per month and tripartite  Indian Labour Conference decision is being denied. Contractual system is being increased; equal wages for equal work is being denied that is why Trade Unions are forced to go on One Day strike on 2nd September.

The other leaders said that not only Workers and Employees are most resented against the betrayal of Modi Govt., but also other sections like Peasants, shopkeepers, Transporters, Youths, Women, retired Army personnel, pensioners etc/ are also hit hard by the policies of Central Govt. and they are feeling betrayed by the Modi Govt. and  are in the struggle like workers and peasants.  We appeal to all of them to support and participate the Strike in all possible manners.

In Chandigarh, Employees Forum consisting of Central Government, Financial Institutions, Public Sector Banks and Insurance (LIC and GIC companies), BSNL, Post Office, AG offices, Chandigarh Admn. Employees, Transport Employees, Electricity Employees, Punjab Govt. Public Sector and Municipal Corporation employees Industrial workers under the banner of Central of Indian Trade Union (CITU) are collectively organizing the struggle which shall be unprecedented in the history of India after independence.  It is fortunate for the broader unity of the working people that even the BMS could not be bowed down by the Modi Govt. which is also participating in a very hilarious manner in this One Day Strike.

It is unfortunate that the bureaucracy in Chandigarh Administration is trying to trumble down under foot the trade union rights for organizing the peaceful struggle by continuously brazenly imposing of section144 throughout the city. How it is possible when workers and employees will go on strike from their offices, factories and establishments, how they can be forbidden their gate meetings and protest rallies.  Since September 1983, the upper portion from Madhya Marg is continuously under Section 144 which reminds that emergency is still there in Chandigarh. It is an attack on the democratic rights of the working class provided in the Constitution. Workers and employees will continue their sincere efforts to approach all the political parties, bar associations and Media persons at Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula and High Court and other professional people to oppose this brazen misuse of 144.  We are hopeful that people in general will support us to make the 2nd September All India Strike a grand success.

Oxigen Wallet Enters into a Strategic Alliance With PAYBACK

By 121 News

Chandigarh 27th August:- Oxigen Wallet associates with PAYBACK, bringing a unique value merging loyalty and usage for the benefit of their users. The partnership with PAYBACK, allows Oxigen wallet customers to earn* and redeem PAYBACK points on Oxigen Wallet. The most powerful feature of this partnership is that customers who have earned PAYBACK points on any other platform can redeem them as cash into the wallet and use it for Oxigen's service offerings, utility payments and online shopping.

Commenting on the association, Ankur Saxena, CEO of Oxigen Wallet said that our partnership with PAYBACK builds up inertia to load money into the wallet for transaction. Redeeming PAYBACK points and converting them into cash automatically eases that process and enhances customer value. As a wallet player, we are cautious about discounts and cash backs as it erodes our bottom line. In order to be a long term & stable player we want to focus on strategic tie ups that drive customer value and rewards in a manner that meets business objectives and the PAYBACK partnership is one such example.

Rahul Rana, CEO & MD, PAYBACK(Loyalty Solutions and Research Private Limited) commented that our partners aremostly the forerunners of their sectors and we are proud to be associated withOxigen Wallet. We are looking forward to a longstanding partnership as our focuscoincides with each other, i.e. to maximize customer benefit.

Chandigarh 27th August:- Corporates, Governments and NGOs should innovate, collaborate and work in tandem towards a 'common goal' in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to bring about a positive change in the society. This was urged by H. E. Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor, Haryana, Punjab & Administrator, UT Chandigarh while addressing the CII CSR Conference organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at its Headquarters in Sector 31.

Reiterating P.M Modi's words of wisdom," If everyone takes a step ahead, the nation will move 1.2 billion steps ahead", he called upon the corporates to play the most significant role under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to support Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, Skill India, & Beti Bachao – Beti Padao by interlinking National, State and District level interventions with the Corporate Social Responsibility of businesses. He added that CSR, being a noble initiative shouldn't require penalty and strict rules to be enforced. The corporates should stand united in bringing CSR to its full-fledged frame. The spirit behind 2% profits towards CSR is more important than the 2% itself. The overall inclusion is necessary and will come only when last person in the queue gets everything. He strongly emphasized that it is high time, CSR came out of the back rooms into the board rooms of the corporates to make a strong difference in the lives of the Have-nots in a more focused manner.

Dr. D.S Cheema, Hon'ble Minister of Education, Government of Punjab appreciated the commencement of conference on CSR. He was highly appreciative of the initiative taken by industry to approach Government for "Clean India: Skilled India". Further adding on to agenda of discussion, he highlighted that Guru Nanak Dev Ji advocated the Social Responsibility. The philosophy of giving away 10% of your earnings to the needy has been preached by Guru Nanak Dev ji himself. All CSR initiatives demand 2% of earnings which is much less and can be done with in today's time. He highlighted on the government discussions for pre-primary schools at age of 3years.Anganvadi schools are being converted into play-ways for poor students. Mr. Cheema mentioned the name of Sant Baljinder Singh Randewala who has adopted 85 primary schools in Dist. Ludhiana. He urged every privileged citizen to take on this further by adopting more schools and making government schools more attractive to students. He elaborated on the concept of CSR by saying that, while philanthropy was charity, CSR is a duty. "Today, if you want the whole country to prosper and not just a few sections, then it becomes imperative for corporate houses to contribute their bit for the betterment of society," he said, adding that development has to be holistic (social, economic and environmental) for social harmony. The other aims of CSR should be reduction of poverty, improvement in education, creation of employment, social justice, access to healthcare and removal of systemic evils like corruption.

Pikender Pal Singh, Regional Director, CII Northern Region, shared that CSR has become an essential element of corporate culture today. No corporate house can afford to ignore the social and environmental impact of their activities. CSR is not a donation or charity, it's a necessity today." In Northern Region, Ability placement fairs for differently abled candidates are also organised to promote their employment with participation of NGOs. CII will continue to play its role in driving the promotion of CSR in the Indian business environment towards making CSR a core part of their business strategy.
