Delegation of UT Powermen Meet Fianance Secretary

Chandigarh 03rd June:- A high level delegation of U.T. Powermen Union Chandigarh met Sarbajit Singh Finance Secretary U.T. Chandigarh. ER. MP Singh SE Electricity and Balwinder Singh Supdtt. Electricity were also present. The delegation was led by Gopal Dutt Joshi, General Secretary, Ram Saurp President Consisting Desh Raj, Vijay Singh, Pardeep Sharma, Sat Pal, Darshan Singh & Amrik Singh.

The representatives apprized the Finance Secretary regarding filling up vacant posts of various categories lying vacant in the department since long and  pointed out that at present total number of sectioned posts are 1780 of various categories and out of these 1780 sectioned posts only 1039 posts have been filled up and about 700 posts are lying vacant in the department and on national posts recently the J.E.R.C. has also given approval to fill up the posts and also granted budget for the same, for which number of representations have been submitted by the Union but the concerned authorities of the department sitting tight over the issue and no efforts have been taken to fill up these vacant posts, resultantly the functioning of the department is effecting adversely and public remain worst sufferer,  as no breakdown and complaints have been attended in time on one side, on the other public money is being paid to petty contractors  even for small piece of work in this essential services department. The number of employees have been given duel charge and there is over burden on each and every employees. The works has been increasing many folds but the staff is decreasing day by day and department works have been badly crippled. Which needs immediate attention as the deptt. has remain miserably failed for filling up of vacant posts both ment for promotional & direct quota & surrendered about 7 Crore of Rupees approved by the JERC on account of employees cost. The finance secretary advised the electricity to take immediate action for filling up vacant posts both for promotional & direct quota.

In the meantime union called its executive committee meeting on 5th June, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Electricity office Sector 17, Chandigarh to review its agitational programme.
