Chandigarh 23rd May:- The Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police succeeded in apprehending an accused namely Emmanuel Chukwunonye of Nigeria, while he was in possession of 28 gms Cocaine without any license or permit.
While giving detail about it the official of the Chandigarh Police said that on 23.05.2015, during a special drive, a team of Crime Branch was on patrolling duty near Football Stadium, Sector-17, Chandigarh. Suddenly, the team noticed that one pedestrian coming from Bus Stand, Sector-17 side towards Football Stadium. On seeing the police party, the said person tried to escape and turned towards football stadium gate and put out something from the right pocket of his weared black coloured jean pent and tried to throw it. But with prompt action, the team members apprehended him. He further said that on enquiry, he disclosed his name as Emmanuel Chukwunonye s/o Oforka having Nigeria National. On his search, one white small polythene in his palm, having white powder was recovered as cocaine weighing 28 gms, but the accused could not produced any license or permit for its possession. Hence, case FIR No. 168 dated 23.05.2015 u/s 21 NDPS Act, PS-17, Chandigarh has been registered against him. During interrogation, the accused confessed that he used to come from Delhi and stay in the various hotels in the area of Panchkula and Zirakpur and supply drugs to the youngsters in Discos and Pubs with the help of local drug peddlers. Accused Emmanuel Chukwunonye will be produced before the Hon'ble court tomorrow i.e. 24.05.2015. The investigation of the case is in progress.
