Man Gifts Kidney to Wife

By 121 News

Chandigarh 17th April:-  I could not have watch my wife to die. After she developed chronic kidney disease three months ago, while on dialysis, it scared the daylights out of me. This is said by a husband who does not want that her wife should die in front of his eyes. He said that he was desperate to donate his kidney and help her. This husband and wife share a living part of each other in their bodies. , Anil Chauhan(35), donated his kidney to his wife Rani Chauhan(28) in a surgery that lasted over three hours on Thursday last month. Very much in love, married for 8 years with two kids,Anil and Rani are equal in every sense now.

Rani own blood relatives did not bail her out but her husband backed her. Anil wanted to donate his kidney to Rani. He said that his entire family was confused except his mother, she was the first person to come up with her kidney but she was unfit as she had kidney stones and thus was not a suitable donor. His relatives were in double mind. Even few asked him to divorce Rani and consider a second marriage.

Dr Munish Chauhan, senior consultant nephrology and kidney transplant at Max Super Specialty Hospital Mohali who was the consultant physician for Rani said that most times, patients can't find a suitable live donor within the family. Getting the organ from brain-dead patients is difficult. Usually, live donors are wives or aged mothers. Also, parents are unwilling to accept kidneys from their children. There is immense social pressure involved in donating within the family.

Although the surgery happened 1 month ago, Rani considers it an everlasting gift. The Human Organs Transplant Act, 1994, demands an entire family's consent for any member to donate his/her kidney to another member.
