Hockey Stadium Brings SAS Nagar on World Map: Sidhu

Chandigarh 17th April:-  A world class hockey stadium constructed in phase-9 in front of PCA stadium has carved out a niche for the district and brought it effectively on world map. This hockey stadium is spread across 12 acres and has come up at a cost of Rs. 50 crore. The stadium plays host to several international level matches. Disclosing this, Deputy Commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that this stadium with all the modern and hi-tech facilities is one of its kind in the world and has a seating capacity of 13500. He said that apart from comfortable chairs for the convenience of public, arrangements have been made for 150 reserved seats for VVIPs. He also informed that a special feature of the stadium is its canopy which has pillars supporting it only on one side.

He further said that changing room, first-aid room and a laboratory for dope testing has been provided in the northern side of the stadium.  The eastern part contains club, gym, canteen, western part has offices and VVIP gallery while the southern part comprises of power back up and other facilities. Elaborating further, the Deputy Commissioner said that this stadium, constructed by Public Works Department, is being managed by Sports Department. He informed that a blue synthetic Astroturf, on the lines of London's hockey stadium, has been laid out for the first time. Divulging more details, he said that floods have also been installed and special arrangements have been made for parking. Apart from this, office of District Sports Officer has also been opened in the stadium.
