Chandigarh 01st April:- Prof. Yogesh Chawla, Director PGI inaugurated the first Information Kiosk in Nehru Hospital and also the facility of Online Registration to five more departments i.e. Dermatology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Drug De-addiction & Treatment Centre and Oral Health Sciences Centre today. This software system has been developed by M/s CDAC. The Information Kiosk inaugurated in Nehru hospital will be a one stop point for the patient/general public for providing information related to OPD schedules, labs, tests, consultants, hospital charges, holidays, helpline numbers etc. The enquiry on Kiosk can be made in an intuitive manner. For providing live patient data to the patient's attendants, PGI has also started 'Patient Enquiry Module' which is available at all enquiry counters of PGI. "Patient Enquiry Module" will facilitate the patient's attendants with patient's present admission status in a ward and other patient-related information.
Online Registration has been going on in the Advanced Eye Centre (AEC) since 14th March 2015 on a trial basis and has attracted a good response from the patients. This user friendly system is available on the Institute website (http://pgimer.edu.in) for the first time visitors to PGIMER. Patients can register themselves for a visit to the specified departments on a chosen date in the next one week. After filling in a small amount of information, a Pre-Registration number is sent to their registered mobile number and E-mail id. By presenting this number at the special registration counter in the above departments on the chosen day, an OPD card with a unique and permanent patient CR number will be generated within a minute. This permanent CR number will be used by the patient for all subsequent visits to the hospital irrespective of the department/OPD. If the patient does not come to the OPD on the chosen day, they will have to re-register on the web. Initially, this facility is available to a limited number of patients per day. Within the next few weeks, this limit will be increased and the facility extended to other OPDs in PGI.
As part of PGI's endeavours to make the Institute more patient-centric and patient-friendly, 10 more advanced information Kiosks will be installed in other buildings with increased and better facilities. Patients will be able to register for OPDs on these kiosks. In addition, viewing and printing of laboratory reports from these kiosks by the patients themselves will also be possible.
