Angad Award for PGI Doctors Learning Hindi and Punjabi

Chandigarh 17th April:-  Prof. Yogesh Chawla, Director PGI honored doctors who have learnt Punjabi and Hindi for better communication with patients admitted in the Institute. Dr Punith Kumar, Senior Resident, Internal medicine and Dr Thnaseer, Junior Resident, Department of Nuclear Medicine were bestowed with "Angad Award" for showing keen interest in learning Punjabi and Hindi. Prof. Yogesh Chawla said that it would be great if all the doctors try to learn patients' language for rendering better patient care. Dr Krishan Gauba, Head, Oral Health Sciences expressed his happiness and encouraged doctors to learn Indian languages. After receiving the award Dr Punith Kumar and Dr Thnaseer said that they would learn anything for improving the treatment of the patients. Pandit Rao Dharennavar teaching Punjabi and Hindi to south Indian doctors said that Angad Bhasha Center working for the development of regional languages of the world, decided to honor PGI doctors with "Angad Award" as despite their busy schedule they had shown keen interest in the languages.  Angad Award  is named after Sri Guru Angad Dev ji who manifested his love for regional languages by developing Gurmukhi script in 15th century.
