Chandigarh 22nd February:-Dr Aman Sharma, Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh has been awarded Shurvir Trust Visiting Professorship by the Association of physicians of India during the Annual Conference being held at Gurgaon. This conference was Inaugurated by Sh JP Nadda, Minister of Health and Family welfare. Dr Aman has been awarded for actively working in the areas of 'Rheumatology' and HIV medicine', and is actively involved in research in these areas.He will also be delivering the Rethinivelu Subramanium oration at APICON 2016 to be held at Hyderabad. He was awarded the 'Young Investigator award'(2007) and 'Zydus Oration'(2011) by the Indian Rheumatology Association. He has a special interest in rare life threatening diseases like systemic vasculitides and Relapsing Polychondritis. He is the Editor of 'Textbook of systemic vasculitis'. He is also the local principal investigator of the American College of Rheumatology and European League against Rheumatic disease multicentric international research group study(DCVAS) , which is developing the diagnostic and classification criteria for systemic vasculitis. He was the only invited expert from India to an international research group which developed and validated relapsing polychondritis disease activity index(RPDAI). He is one of the earliest members of GRAPPA (Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis) from India.
