10 days Sanitation Campaign inaugurated in SAS Nagar to enhance its beauty :500 Safai Karamcharis have been deputed for this campaign.

Chandigarh 02nd August:-- To beautify SAS Nagar on the pattern of Chandigarh, 10 days, sanitation campaign formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu & former centre minister sh. Balwant Singh Ramuwalia. The campaign was started from YPS chowk. Tejinder Pal Singh stated that this campaign will also be continued in all the cities & towns of the district & in villages help form Panchayats, Youth Clubs & from local residents will be sought for this campaign.He said that entire district will be given a new look so that residents of SAS Nagar will feel proud on themselves. Besides these sapling will be done to maintain a healthy environment. Deputy Commissioner said that the campaign has been initiated by dividing the entire SAS Nagar district in to 5 zones so that each & very corner of the district along with villages under the district will get covered under the campaign. He said that total 500 Safai Karamcharis have been deputed for the work, which is further deployed as 100 Karamcharis in each zone. Beside these officer have been deputed to monitor the progress of the work & the overall charge of the campaign will be with Dilraj Singh, Joint commissioner of the Corporation. Sh. Sidhu said that during the campaign special attention will be given to the cleaning of dumping points, Kerb Channels, removal of wild growth, lifting of garbage from roadsides & cleaning of roads. He said that on the first day of campaign, roads of phase 1 near district administrative complex to road near phase 6 Gurudwara, From phase 7-8, YPS Octroi to Kumbhran Lights, from Phase 11 bus stand to dispensary at phase 9, from Gurudwara Singh Shahidan to PCL Chowk, From Industrial area phase 9, Bawa Light chowk to main road sector 82, have been got cleaned. Besides thisnearby residential areas have been got cleaned. Deputy Commissioner appealed to the residents to participate in the campaign to make it a grand success. He said that no campaign could get success without the help of people. He appealed to social welfare organisations to step forward to make this campaign successful. Deputy Commissioner appealed to the residents that they should ensure cleanliness around them so that the city may become no. 1 in health & wellness. Former centre minister Balwant Singh Ramuwalia said that this campaign is a combined effort of district administration, Municipal Corporation & GMADA and this will definitely bring up positive results & people will certainly got awareness with this campaign.  Joint commissioner Municipal Corporation said that negligence in works related to campaign will not be tolerable and this campaign will also be continued in the city.
